Interactions are a key metric in BrandMentions that measure how much your audience is actively engaging with the content that mentions your brand.
While Reach estimates the potential number of people who could see your mentions, Interactions measure the real actions people take in response such as likes, comments, and shares.
How Interactions Are Measured in BrandMentions
BrandMentions calculates Interactions by aggregating engagement data from various platforms into a single, easy-to-read metric.
The types of interactions included depend on the source of the mention.
1. On Social Media Platforms
For platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter), Interactions typically include:
- Likes: The number of times users have liked a post or comment mentioning your brand.
- Comments: The number of direct responses or discussions generated by the mention.
- Shares or Retweets: The number of times users have reshared or retweeted the post.
These engagement types show how your audience is reacting to your brand and whether your content is inspiring participation.
2. On Blogs and News Sites
While direct interactions are less common on blogs or news platforms, BrandMentions can capture some engagement from integrated commenting systems.
However, most measurable interactions typically originate from social media shares or discussions that extend beyond the original publication.
3. Aggregated Engagement Score
All forms of engagement are combined into one Interactions metric in your Analytics dashboard.
This unified score provides a comprehensive view of total audience activity around your brand across all tracked platforms.
Tip: Sort your mentions by Interactions in the dashboard to instantly see which pieces of content generate the highest engagement.
Using Interactions in BrandMentions
You can monitor Interactions directly from the Analytics dashboard, where they are displayed alongside metrics like Mentions, Reach, and Sentiment.
Analyzing Interactions over time helps you:
- Detect engagement trends across different campaigns or channels.
- Measure how content updates influence participation.
- Balance visibility (Reach) with engagement (Interactions) to achieve stronger results.
Tracking Interactions provides a deeper understanding of how your audience connects with your brand and what motivates them to engage.
