How Do I Pause, Edit, or Delete an Existing Alert?

Updated over a month ago

BrandMentions gives you complete control over your notifications with easy options to pause, edit, or delete alerts. This ensures your monitoring system stays relevant, organized, and efficient as your strategy develops.

Your brand monitoring needs evolve over time. Campaigns end, priorities change, and team structures shift. To stay aligned with your current goals, you need flexibility in managing your alerts.

The Alerts Dashboard is your central hub for managing all your configured alerts. From here, you can view, edit, pause, or remove alerts quickly and easily.

How to Find the Management Options

  1. Navigate to the Alerts Section
From your BrandMentions dashboard, click on Alerts in the left sidebar to open the Alerts Dashboard.

  2. Locate the Alert You Want to Manage
Find the specific alert you want to update in your list of configured alerts.

  3. Use the “Actions” Column
To the right of each alert, you’ll see an Actions column containing icons that let you manage that alert.

The Three Main Alert Management Actions

Action

Icon and Description

Edit

Represented by a pencil icon. Click this icon to open the Edit Alert window. This is the same interface used when creating an alert. You can modify any settings, including the project, notification channel, frequency, filters, and recipients. Once finished, click Save to apply your changes.

Pause or Disable

Represented by a pause icon or toggle switch. This option temporarily stops the alert without deleting it. Use it when you want to suspend notifications, such as during a campaign break or testing period. You can re-enable the alert anytime.

Delete

Represented by a trash can icon. Clicking this icon permanently removes the alert from your account. A confirmation prompt will appear to ensure you don’t delete an alert by mistake. Use this action for alerts tied to completed campaigns or outdated keywords.

Best Practices for Managing Alerts

  • Review Alerts Regularly
Check your active alerts every few months. Remove or pause those that are no longer useful to reduce noise and keep your dashboard organized.

  • Use Descriptive Names
When naming alerts, choose clear and specific titles like “Negative Mentions - Crisis Team” or “Positive Mentions - Influencer Tracking.” This helps your team quickly identify each alert’s purpose.

  • Pause Before Deleting
If you are unsure whether an alert will be needed again, pause it instead of deleting it. This saves you from having to recreate it later.

Regular alert management ensures that your notification system continues to serve your brand effectively. By keeping only the most relevant alerts active, your team can stay focused on meaningful insights, respond faster to important events, and maintain full control over brand monitoring activities.
