Tips for a Useful Comparison

  • Choose the perspective that matches your question. Use Analytics for performance changes and Demographics for audience changes.

  • Compare similar date ranges. Equal-length periods make differences in totals easier to interpret.

  • Check counts alongside percentages. A large percentage change can reflect a small difference when the starting count is low.

  • Account for seasonality and events. Holidays, launches, and major news can influence both activity and audience composition.

  • Keep monitoring settings consistent. Changes to tracked keywords or project scope can affect the results.

  • Investigate before drawing conclusions. A change during a campaign doesn’t necessarily mean the campaign caused it.
