Sometimes, you may want to exclude mentions from your own website or social media profiles to get a clearer picture of what others are saying about your brand. BrandMentions provides a simple way to do this using the Exclusions feature.
Excluding Your Own Website
To exclude mentions from your own website, follow these steps:
- Go to your project's Settings.
- 2.Scroll down to the Sources > Exclusions section.
- 3.Under Exclude mentions from specific Domains or URLs, enter the URL of your website (e.g., yourwebsite.com).
Excluding Your Own Social Media Profiles
To exclude mentions from your own social media profiles, follow these steps:
- Go to your project's Settings.
- Scroll down to Sources > Exclusions section.
- Under Exclude mentions from specific social accounts, enter the handles of your social media profiles (e.g., @yourbrand).
This will prevent BrandMentions from collecting any mentions that are posted by your own social media accounts.
Why Exclude Your Own Mentions?
Excluding your own mentions can be useful for a few reasons:
β’Focus on Earned Media: By excluding your own content, you can focus on what others are saying about your brand (earned media) rather than what you are saying about yourself (owned media).
β’Reduce Noise: If you post frequently, your own content can create a lot of noise in your mentions feed. Excluding your own mentions can help you to see the most important conversations more clearly.
β’More Accurate Sentiment Analysis: By removing your own content, you can get a more accurate picture of the overall sentiment surrounding your brand.
By using the exclusions feature, you can ensure that your BrandMentions project is tailored to your specific needs and provides you with the most relevant and actionable insights.
