When you disconnect an integration from BrandMentions, you stop any future data from being shared with that tool.
However, any data that was already sent to the other application before disconnection usually remains there. This article explains what actually happens and what you may need to do to fully control your data.
What disconnecting an integration means
When you disconnect an integration, you are:
Revoking that application's permission to access your BrandMentions data in the future
Stopping any new data from being sent from BrandMentions to that app
After disconnection:
The integration can no longer call the BrandMentions API on your behalf
BrandMentions stops sending data to that app through webhooks or other integration methods
From that moment, no new mentions or analytics are delivered to the disconnected tool.
Data behavior after disconnection
Data location | What happens after you disconnect an integration |
BrandMentions | Your data stays in your BrandMentions account and is not deleted or modified. |
Other application | No new data is sent from BrandMentions. Existing data remains until you remove it manually. |
What happens to data that was already shared
The most important detail:
β
Disconnecting an integration does not automatically delete data that has already been shared with the other application.
β
Examples:
If BrandMentions has been sending mentions to a Google Sheet, disconnecting the integration will stop new mentions from being added.
However, the rows that already exist in the sheet will remain there.
βIf you have sent data to a Slack channel, previous messages will still be visible in Slack after you disconnect the integration.
βIf a Zapier workflow wrote data into a CRM or task manager, that existing data stays in those tools.
BrandMentions cannot remove data that now lives inside another platform, because it is stored under that platform's control.
What happens to your data inside BrandMentions
Disconnecting an integration does not delete your data inside BrandMentions.
All your projects, mentions, analytics, and reports remain in your BrandMentions account
You can continue to use BrandMentions normally
You can connect new integrations later if you wish
Only the connection and data flow between BrandMentions and the external application are affected.
By understanding this, you can keep full control over where your BrandMentions data lives and how long it is stored, even after you disconnect an integration.
