What Does “Quota Limit Exceeded” Mean and How Can I Fix It?

Updated over a month ago

Seeing a “Quota Limit Exceeded” message in your BrandMentions account means you have reached one or more of the limits included in your current subscription plan. The good news is that this is usually easy to fix.

What “Quota Limit Exceeded” means in BrandMentions

Every BrandMentions plan includes a set of usage limits, also called quotas. These typically include:

  • Maximum number of mentions

  • Maximum number of projects

  • Maximum number of keywords

  • Maximum number of team members

When you go over any of these limits, BrandMentions may:

  • Show a “Quota Limit Exceeded” notification

  • Temporarily restrict some actions, for example adding new projects, mentions or keywords

You can still access your account, but you may not be able to create or track more until you are back within your quota or move to a higher plan.

How to fix a “Quota Limit Exceeded” error

There are two main ways to resolve this issue.

1. Upgrade your plan

If you are consistently hitting your limits, upgrading is usually the simplest and most reliable solution.

  1. Go to Account Settings.

  2. Open the Billing> Subscription Details section.

  3. Choose a plan with higher limits and follow the steps to upgrade.

After upgrading, your new quotas will apply and you can continue tracking more mentions, projects, keywords, or team members without interruption.

2. Reduce your usage

If you prefer not to upgrade, you can free up quota by cleaning up your account.

Quota type

How to reduce usage

Mentions

Archive or delete old mentions that you no longer need to keep active.

Projects

Delete projects that are no longer relevant or that you are not monitoring anymore.

Keywords

Remove low value or duplicate keywords and keep only the ones that are essential to your monitoring strategy.

Team members

Remove users who no longer need access to the account, for example former colleagues or inactive collaborators.

After you reduce your usage so that it falls under your plan limits, the “Quota Limit Exceeded” message should disappear and your normal functionality will be restored.

Still having issues?

If you have cleared space or upgraded your plan and still see the error, or if you are not sure which quota you have exceeded, contact the BrandMentions support team. They can check your account details and help you choose the best next step.
